Canyon Lake has four (4) developed camping areas. See the information below about these developed camping areas.

 

Potter's Creek Park

Potter's Creek Park Is A Beautiful Class A Facility That Includes Modern RV and Camp Sites. CAMPING ONLY. NO DAY USE.

LOCATION: The Park is located on the northwest side of Canyon Lake off of Potter's Creek Road near the Hwy 484 (Fischer Road) junction.

DIRECTONS:

From IH 35 take FM 306 (exit #191) located just north of New Braunfels, Texas. Travel west on FM 306 for 26 miles. Turn south on Potter's Creek Road and continue two miles to reach the park entrance.

From US 281 take FM 306 east 10 miles.  Turn south on Potter's Creek Road and continue two miles to reach the park entrance.

 

The Park Contains These Camping Facilities:

*Five (5) RV/Camping loops with one hundred fourteen (114) sites.     [sites 1-114]       Pics: coming soon!

[sites 1-61, 67-114] Can use discount pass for these sites. Max number of people: 10.  This includes overnight campers and visitors.   1 RV and 1 tent maximum or 2 tents maximum.

[sites 62-65] Can NOT use discount pass for these sites. Max number of people : 30.  This includes overnight campers and visitors.  3 RVs and 3 tents maximum or 6 tents maximum.

[site 66] Can NOT use discount pass for this site. Max number of people : 20.  This includes overnight campers and visitors.  2 RVs and 2 tents maximum or 4 tents maximum.

All sites include: A covered picnic table; Fire ring for ground fires; Closeable standing grill; 40-60 foot long parking pads; 20, 30 and 50 amp electrical service; Water hook-ups and a gorgeous view!

Max number of people: 10.  Can use discount pass for these sites. This includes overnight campers and visitors.   2 Tents Maximum (any size).

All sites include: A covered picnic table; Fire ring for ground fires; Closeable standing grill; 20 and 30 amp electrical service; Water hook-ups  and a gorgeous view!

Parking is limited to three (3) vehicle parking spaces ONLY. NO visitor tags will be issued when your parking is full! No RVs, pop-ups, or any form of pull behind trailer is allowed. Any boat trailer you bring must fit in your space of it is not allowed.

Max number of people: 10. Can NOT use discount pass for these sites. Maximum of two (2) tent Only!

All sites include: A small building with half native stone walls and screened upper sections; Drop down privacy shades;  A sink with, cold running water; A food preparation counter; Electrical outlets; Ceiling fan; A covered picnic table; Fire ring for ground fires; Closeable standing grill; Shade at most sites.  Campers can sleep in the shelter or choose to pitch their tent outside of their shelter. 

Parking is limited to two (2) overnight vehicle parking spaces ONLY. You are allowed two (2) visitor tags during the day. NO extra visitor tags will be issued when your parking is full! Your visitors park in the overflow parking a few yards down the road. No RVs, pop-ups, or any form of pull behind trailer is allowed. Any boat trailer you bring must fit in your space of it is not allowed also. If you are pulling a boat, then your parking is full.

Max number of people: 50.    Parking Spaces: about 20 (depends on size of vehicles). Electrical: 15 amp at the shelter. No power or water for RVs or campers in this location.

Check in Time: 12:00 pm    No Early Check-Ins Allowed!   Check Out Time: 10:00 am

This site contains: A large pavilion; Several picnic tables under the shelter; Power at the shelter; Large double grill; Fire Ring for ground fires; Private parking; Large open grassy field.

Located in the center of the park and able to handle more guests than the standard RV or camping sites.  You can overnight camp or use it during the day. A Boat ramp is in the same cove as the group pavilion.

If you want to use the Pavilion for weddings, church events, scout activities, family reunions, etc..., then you MUST get a Lake Activity permit from the main office in Overlook Park. You need to request the permit at least 90 days before your planned event to get approval and the permit. If you do not apply for a permit we reserve the right to cancel your reservation(s).

 

The Park has the following amenities:

*Five (5) spacious handicap accessible restrooms:         Pics: Restroom Exterior

 Each restroom has: Parking next to building; A Heaters for winter; Hot/cold showers; Sinks with mirrors; Flushing toilets; Privacy doors on the stalls; Handicap accessible showers with beaches for dressing; Night time lighting for safety; Skylights.

*Large Family Beach:         Pics: Beach

 The beach is made up of fine crushed rock (not sand) and is only 5 feet at the deepest inside the orange floating barricade. There is NO life guard on duty. You are responsible for your self and your family. The Beach is accessible by any paid guest and their visitors that are in the park. You are swimming in the main body of the lake. Boaters and currents can be a hazard so swim with a partner for safety.

There are shaded pavilions with picnic tables at the beach for anyone that wishes to use them. NO Fires are allowed at the beach. Please keep cooking and fires at your campsite.

 There are two boat ramps available. One inside the park for paid guests and one (1) outside the park for the general public. Both ramps are open 24 hrs a day and both have floating docks. The outside boat ramp has a fishing pier and restroom near by with additional parking.

There is a fishing pier by the outside boat ramp. It is set about 50 yards west of the boat ramp and floating boat dock. The pier is open 24 hrs a day. You must have a Texas Fishing License to fish in this lake.

 

Canyon Park

CAMPING ONLY IN PARK.

SWIM BEACH AT ENTRANCE TO PARK IS DAY USE ONLY.

Canyon Park is located on the North shore of Canyon Lake near Hancock. From IH 35 take Exit 191 north of New Braunfels, Texas. Drive West on FM 306 20 Miles, turn left on Canyon Park Road or from US 281 turn east on FM 306,travel east 12 miles, turn right on Canyon Park Road. The park is open April 1st- September 30th from 7:00am to 10:00pm. There are 150 campsites (no RV hookups), a boat ramp, vault toilets, and no showers. Cranes Mill Park

PARK CURRENTLY CLOSED FOR RE-CONSTRUCTION AND RENOVATIONS.

OUTSIDE FISHING PIER STILL OPEN.

Cranes Mill Park is located on the Southwest shore of Canyon Lake off FM 2673, just past the village of Startzville. From IH 35 take Canyon Lake exit west on FM 306; approximately 14 miles. Turn left on FM 2673 just after Guadalupe River crossing. Cranes Mill Park is located at the westernmost end of FM 2673 and South Cranes Mill Road. The park is open year-round, 7am to 10pm daily. Maximum of two vehicles, two tents, or ten persons per campsite, whichever comes first. Boat launching, fishing dock, and vault toilets are available to registered campers.  All entrances are locked at 10pm with no re-entry available until 7am the next morning. Campers may exit the park at any time. Park is subject to early closure on holiday weekends when filled to capacity. Rentals are first come first served basis only. Checkout is at 2pm. Boat Ramp available for a fee or FREE with valid camping permit.  Boat Ramp will close when parking area has reached capacity of 45 vehicles with trailers.

 

North Park

CAMPING ONLY. NO DAY USE. DIVERS WELCOME!

North Park is located off FM 306 near the dam. From IH 35 take FM 306 exit no.191 located just west of New Braunfels, travel west on FM 306 for 18.5 miles, or from US 281 take FM 306 east 16.5 miles. The park is open  from 7:00am to 10:00pm. There are 19 campsites (no RV hookups), vault toilets, no showers, no boat ramp. This is a popular scuba diving area.
