Swimming at Canyon Lake
There are three parks around Canyon Lake that have official designated swim beaches.
Potters Creek Park: For registered Guests Only
Canyon Beach: Day Use
Comal Park: Day Use
The beaches at Canyon and Comal were updated in the fall of 2011 to 2012 fresh beach material. The floating lines that designate the swim area were re-anchored and are set for a maximum of 5 foot in depth at the furthest point. The wind may blow the line in or out by several feet in bad weather so please don't depend upon it to tell you how deep the water is.
Use common sense and good judgement when choosing to swim. Always wear a Life Jacket while at the beach.
We do NOT have any life guards on duty. All of the beaches and shoreline are swim at your own risk. You are responsible for your family and friends that are swimming with you. Keep a vigilent eye on them and always wear a floatation device certified by the Coast Guard. Arm floaties do not count as a quality floatation device.
At the Comal Beach we do have a limited number of loaner life jackets. Once you have finished using it please return it to the loaner board so other families and guests can participate and enjoy a safe enjoyable activity.
