If you were drawn for the 2011-2012 Deer Hunting Permit and did NOT return your survey you are not eligible for the 2012-2013.

Hunting is allowed between the opening day of dove season and the last day of August the following year. Specific hunting seasons are published by Texas Parks and Wildlife and the US Fish and Wildlife Service.

Deer Hunting permits will be issued in a lottery system. Quota permits for deer will be issued based on current best management practices for White Tailed Deer populations, and harvest guidelines. The application must be submitted in person to 110 Fairway Drive, Grapevine, TX 76051, June 1st – July 29th, 2011, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday excluding federal holidays. Successful applicants will be notified by August 22nd. Applications can be obtained at the Grapevine Lake Office or on the web beginning May 27, 2011. ALL PERMITS HAVE BEEN DRAWN AND RECIPIENTS HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED.


Special Youth Only Deer Hunting . Youth season permits will be issued to licensed hunters 16 years of age or younger. A Texas Parks and Wildlife Special Hunting License may be required to hunt. Applicants that are 16 years old must show proof of hunter education or be accompanied, 15 years and younger must be accompanied. Accompanied means by a person who is at least 17, who is licensed to hunt in Texas, who has passed hunter education or is exempt (born before Sept. 2, 1971), and you must be within normal voice control while hunting. The hunting period will be from October 1st, 2011 to October 9th, 2011. 150 permits will be issued to first come first serve applicants with a properly filled out Grapevine Lake Youth Deer Hunting Application. The application can be submitted in person to 110 Fairway Drive, Grapevine, TX 76051, June 1st – July 30th, 2011, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday excluding federal holidays.  Applications can be obtained at the Grapevine Lake Office or on the web beginning May 27, 2011.

500 Migratory Bird Hunting First come -first serve permits will be issued to applicants with a properly filled out Grapevine Migratory Bird Hunting Application.. The amount of permits will be based on the hunting areas capacity for a safe, enjoyable, quality and most of all sustainable hunting experience for the public. PERMITS WILL BE LIMITED. Applications will be accepted and permits will be issued from June 1st 2011 until the last of the 500 permits is issued.  All applications can be submitted in person to 110 Fairway Drive, Grapevine, TX 76051, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, Monday - Friday excluding federal holidays. Applications can be obtained at the Grapevine Lake Office or on the web beginning May 27, 2011. ALL MIGRATORY BIRD PERMITS HAVE BEEN ISSUED.

800 General Hunting permits will be issued for Hog, Squirrel, Rabbits, Dove, Turkey and coyote. First come -first serve permits will be issued to applicants with a properly filled out Grapevine General Hunting Application. Applications will be accepted and permits will be issued from June 1st, 2011 until the last permit out of the 800 is issued.  All applications can be submitted in person to 110 Fairway Drive, Grapevine, TX 76051, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, Monday - Friday excluding federal holidays. Applications can be obtained at the Grapevine Lake Office or on the web beginning May 27, 2011. ALL GENERAL HUNTING PERMITS HAVE BEEN ISSUED.

Hog Trapping permits will be issued in a lottery system and will be extremely limited due to accessibility to Corps property, and are subject to the Feral Hog Trapping Conditions. See Hog Map for locations. The application MUST be submitted in person to 110 Fairway Drive, Grapevine, TX 76051, June 1st-September 30th, 2011, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday-Friday excluding federal holidays. Applications can be obtained at the Grapevine Lake Office or on the web beginning May 27th, 2011. ALL PERMITS HAVE BEEN DRAWN AND RECIPIENTS HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED.

Special Restrictions:

  • Deer and feral hog hunting are by archery only with the exception of the special hog trapping permit. 
  • Shotguns using #3 or smaller shot may be used for general and migratory hunting permits within the approprate seasons as outlined by TPWD. 
  • All waterfowl hunters are required to be in or on the water while hunting waterfowl.  “In or on the water” is defined as being at least six (6) feet into the water from the shoreline, either wading, in a floating blind, or in a boat.  Shore-based blinds are NOT permitted.
  • Sport chasing is NOT allowed.
  • Taking of hogs with the use of dogs is NOT authorized.
