Invasive Species Information

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) will continue to operate the Lavon project as authorized with the intent of expediting regulated releases of flood waters to minimize downstream inducements, if needed.

The adult zebra mussels found in the upper reaches of Sister Grove Creek have prompted USACE and other resource agency personnel to monitor Lavon Lake waters for possible presence and colonization.

All monitoring efforts have come back negative and will continue to occur as we keep a watchful eye on the current situation.

In the event that lake levels rise to the point where controlled releases need to be facilitated, to lower flooding risks and downstream damages, public safety will continue to be USACE's main priority.
