2010 Hunting Information

NOTICE:

Hunting area names have recently changed. Please contact the Waco Project Office for a copy of our current hunting map. If you were permitted to hunt turkey this season, please give special attention to the map which was included with your permit.

****Waco Lake requires proof of Hunters Education as required by the State of Texas****

Basic Information:

Legal Game: Dove, squirrel, rabbits, spring turkey (gobblers only), feral hogs, waterfowl, and deer.
Season: As published in the Texas Outdoor Annual for this county. Rabbit, squirrel and feral hogs may be hunted after deer season until 15 March.
Muzzleloaders and Crossbows: No
Special Conditions: A computer drawing is held to determine eligible hunters. Applications may be obtained at the lake office. Sport chasing is prohibited. Tree stands are restricted to portable non-bark penetrating stands only and must be removed after each day’s hunt.
Electronic calling devices are prohibited. Baiting is prohibited except for the hunting of feral hogs after deer season is over.

All hunters must provide the following with hunting applications:

Self-addressed stamped envelope

Proof of Hunter Safety Education Course as Required by the State of Texas

Signed Waiver of Liabilty Current

Valid Hunting License, Including State Migratory Game Bird Stamp, Federal Migratory Bird Stamp (if needed)

Deer Gun Season

- Applications Accepted: 1 September through 11 October

Dove

- Registration deadline: 22 September, 2010

Duck

- Registration deadline: 18 October, 2010

Teal

- Registration deadline: August 23, 2010

Archery

- Registration deadline: September 20, 2010

Turkey

- Registration deadline: March 21, 2011
